Our visit to the Weltmuseum Wien was so inspirational! We only had time for the temporary exhibition, so another visit has to be scheduled soon!
Here is more information about some of the things you see in the video:
Prehistoric Art in the Mountains of La Lindosa
„The mountainous region of the Amazon - more than two million years old - represents one of the oldest geological formations on the planet. Nature reserve Chiribiquete Park was founded in 1980 and protects the landscape and the people who have voluntarily settled there.
Rock paintings were discovered here in 1987. Artistic expressions of humankind’s relationship with the environment, the paintings are more than 10,000 years old.“
Kintsugi
„Kintsugi is the traditional Japanese method of gluing broken ceramics with urushi lacquer. The imperfections are painted with metal powder or colored urushi. The finest gold powder keshifun is made from ground gold leaf, whereas the coarser hiragokufun and marufun are obtained by filing.
Behind kintsugi stands the aesthetic concept of wabi-sabi, which values beauty in imperfection and impermanence. It is closely related to Zen Buddhism and the tea ceremony. Damage is not concealed but is artistically repaired with very precious materials.“
