A very Brontë afternoon

On February 15th, The Melli Feri Book Club gathered at Landtmann Original in Alterlaa for an evening inspired by the timeless Brontë sisters. Amid the elegant ambience of this charming venue, we embarked on a journey through the worlds crafted by Charlotte, Emily, and Anne Brontë—women whose words continue to enchant readers today.

The conversation flowed as we delved into the themes of love, resilience, and the complexities of human nature found within their novels. Our discussions ranged from the fierce independence and raw passion of Emily’s creations, to the strong moral convictions of Charlotte’s characters, and the reflective, thoughtful narratives of Anne.

A highlight of the evening was our specially designed Brontë Personality Quiz. Members answered five carefully crafted questions that revealed which of the three sisters they most resembled. It was delightful to see everyone engaging with the quiz and discovering whether they shared the wild spirit of Emily, the determined resolve of Charlotte, or the quiet wisdom of Anne. You may also take the quiz - it is posted as a Highlight on our Instagram page here!

To add a personal touch to the evening, each member received a beautifully crafted candle decorated with dried flowers. These tokens not only echoed the natural motifs of the Brontë’s work but also served as a lasting reminder of the warm and inspiring gathering.

As we looked forward to our next book club meeting, excitement buzzed in the air. Soon, we will delve into Thomas Hardy’s Tess of the d’Urbervilles, a novel poised to spark deep discussions and new insights.

Thank you to everyone who made the evening so memorable. We can’t wait to see you at our next gathering, where more literary adventures await!
