A visit to Hauptbücherei Wien

Back in January, members of The Melli Feri Book Club took a trip to the Vienna Main Library to register for library cards. As a group that thrives on exploring literature together, having access to one of Vienna’s largest public libraries felt like an important step in broadening our reading choices.

The visit was a chance to familiarise ourselves with the library’s vast collection, spanning fiction, non-fiction, international titles, and audiobooks. Some members immediately started browsing for their next read, while others took the opportunity to explore the quiet reading areas and study spaces.

Signing up for a library card was a simple process, and for many, it was a reminder of the joys of borrowing books—being able to discover new authors and genres without the commitment of a purchase. We also took some time to discuss upcoming club readings and share recommendations based on the shelves we explored.

Our visit to the Main Library was not just about getting access to books; it was about strengthening our connection as a community of readers. Whether we’re meeting for in-depth discussions or simply exchanging bookish thoughts, The Melli Feri Book Club continues to find new ways to celebrate the love of reading.
